God provided a wonderful little 1930's bungalow on a large lot in a beautiful, quiet, safe neighborhood. It's just what I could afford and is the perfect size for me and the cat, and large enough for me to show hospitality in. My favorite features include:
- The breakfast nook, which, with its built-in drawers and cabinets, is the perfect spot for my work-at-home office
- The old-timey milk door, which will serve as Pooja's personal entrance to the laundry room
- Did I mention the laundry room?
- Coved ceilings
- Two closets in the master bedroom (the extra one is for my shoes, naturally)
- Original hardwood floors
- Curved doorways
A friend remarked that it seemed the house was made just for me. Knowing our sovereign God, I think that is completely true. I am so thankful that my Father in heaven knows how to give good gifts to His children. He spared me from bad choices, and had me wait so He could provide the right house at the right time. He also provided a wondeful realtor who had my back through a challenging process. The Lord, from start to finish, made it clear that He was in control; He cleared every obstacle that was insurmountable by human means, and provided amply to ensure that the house passed inspection and closed at the right time.
All that being said, the place needs a whole heck of a lot of work, so I think it's inevitable that most of my future posts will be about my adventures in homeownership. Since I don't have a clue what I'm doing, it should be lots of fun!
