Ross Saved my Thanksgiving

Hooray! I'm hosting Thanksgiving at my home for the first time this year!

Oh shoot!  I only have service for four.

I remember buying my first set of dishes when I moved out on my own (at 25...I was a late bloomer).  My BFF/roommate and I went to Macy's and got a white dish set with raised dots around the circumference of the plates, bowls, and mugs.  We were so excited about finally being adults (yes, at 25) and buying dishes and glasses and flatware.  She got married a few years later and received new dishes for her wedding, so she let me keep our set of white dishes.  Fast forward seven years, and I still have that same set.  It's a little chipped, but it's trustworthy.  (you've seen them in some of my recipe post photos!)

However, when I have people over for dinner, it's rarely a party of four.  I've had to borrow bowls and forks and spoons for my last few gatherings.  I realized it was time to augment my current dish and flatware supply before Thanksgiving, so dinner wouldn't have to be served on paper plates and eaten with our fingers.

So I took a trip to Ross.

See more after the jump...

For a grand total of $62 and some change, I was able to procure 20 spoons, 10 forks, 12 dessert plates, a creamer, 8 dinner plates, 8 bowls, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Excuse the background mess.  In all the excitement, I forgot to stage this.
Okay, no partridge, but I bet I'd find one if I went back in a few weeks.

Ross is great for the single person (or anyone, really) who needs something for their home.  Since it seems like most adults get what they need for their homes as wedding gifts, it can be tough for a single person to set up a household.  I was extremely blessed by gifts from family and friends when my BFF and I moved out on our own, and again when I moved into my home by myself.  However, there were still some things I needed, so stores like Ross, Homegoods, TJ Maxx, etc. have been treasure troves of necessities, like serving dishes, throw blankets, pillow cases, etc.

By the way, this is not a paid shout out.  I just really love Ross.  However, Ross is welcome to fork over some dough for this endorsement.  It's not like I won't just go back and spend it there anyway.  There's a vegetable peeler I've got my eye on.  Plus you can buy shoes there.  Hello!

And don't even get me started on how much I love Target.

Anyway, I'm now a grown up with service for 12.  The dinner plates and bowls even coordinate with what I already had.  Thanksgiving is in the bag.

Now what in the world am I going to cook?
